This was such a nice surprise! As someone who has the urge to write and also wants to pull a Victor Hugo disappearing act, how would you say you handled that more weepy mindset? I have playlists that help me, but hearing things that work for other people is always a treat :)
I am very excited for your return and your new mindset. You have to take care of yourself before you can care for others. I actually just downloaded this app because of you, so let’s get these convos rollin’! 😎
I'd love a further deep-dive into your time "away," so to speak - whether that's simply a recap of what you read vs. thoughts on the practice/concept in general! Both are equally important, in my opinion. :) I also know that can easily dip into what's too personal to share, but interested to hear more about such a life-affirming time, something that I've been starting to learn how to incorporate into every day and have found a lot of comfort in.
What a treat to see this. I just returned from NYC where I saw the HP play and it just reminded me of how much I miss you and I think Luna should have been in it. You've been my fave character since I first saw you. Please take care, especially in such a chaotic world (said the guy from America).
We're the Spanish couple who gave you flower seeds in Basingstoke. Did any Spanish flowers appear in your garden? 🌷🌸🌺
We try to eat vegan whenever we can, but as you know, it's not easy. We're curious to know what is your favorite food. Have you thought about posting your recipes or making videos with your ideas? I think that would be great. 😋🥗
I am happy that you reclaimed your space. Sounds like you have a wonderful plan and a are good place from which to approach the world. In a chaotic world, this place seems like a much needed retreat.
My elementary school did pen pals one year and I loved it! I was very bummed the next year when we didn't get to do it again. So this has me very excited! I must ask how your knitting and crochet journey is going? I just got into making my sweaters and t-shirts. I now have a goal to make my whole wardrobe. Bonus if I can find the yarn second hand. As I go off on a crafting rant! I am very much looking forward to your friday letters!
Glad to see you living your life! Love from China🦋
I had a beloved puppy who lived to 19, he went through similar loss of hearing and sight, so I can understand how you may feeling, at least to some extent
I loved reading this. Your journey of stepping back, setting boundaries, and rediscovering yourself is so refreshing and inspiring. It’s rare to hear someone embrace slowing down so fully, and it’s a reminder that we don’t always have to be “on” to be fulfilled.
Your home sounds like the perfect mix of peace and chaos—Puff, Malo, and Pablo each bringing their own kind of magic (or mischief). And your love for letter-writing is something I deeply relate to; there’s something special about the way words on a page can connect people beyond the surface.
Looking forward to your Friday letters—no pressure, just whatever feels right. Wishing you all the best (and hoping Pablo spares your next lunch).
I also have a love of crafts. Crochet, knitting, cross stitch, anything which involves complicated hand movements to numb my brain. I've often thought of crafting in this way to be a form of magic, something women have traditionally done to create new things from practically nothing, to soothe themselves, to natter and cackle together over clicking needles..
A new project is exciting, I get a rush of creative energy to MAKE SOMETHING. This is why I have half a dozen unfinished projects lying around my flat. In the end my busy job (as a detective in CID) fills up time I would otherwise be spending just being with myself and my projects. How many unfinished projects do you have lying around and how do you make yourself finish things? I'm also trying to write a novel and the same thing is happening with that. New idea, new excitement, push the old thing to the back of the shelf.

Welcome back!!! We’re so excited to read you and know more about what you have learned in the past couple of years.
Would you share a bit more about your garden? I’ve seen some pictures and it looks beautiful! I love your frogs.
